• Carrefour, French retail group currently operate in three main grocery store formats; hypermarkets, supermarkets and discount stores. They have 26 hypermarkets, 164 supermarkets and 700 discount markets which total of 890 stores serve on the quality-price formula as the central focus of their mission in all the markets where they operate.
• Metro Cash & Carry international self service wholesale retailer operate 14 stores. Their business concept is targeted towards professional customers rather than end consumers. Real hypermarkets subordinated by Metro Group AG operate 14 shops as well.
• Tesco, Britain's biggest and most profitable supermarket chain is Europe's second largest supermarket after the French firm Carrefour. In November 2003 Tesco bought the Kipa chain which was a small and profitable chain that owns five hypermarkets in the Aegean region. Now Tesco Kipa operate 108 shops in 22 cities outside Istanbul mostly in Aegean and Central Anatolian part.
